We did not ask. That is the whole publication, said once and meant. BRUT exists because culture kept arriving pre-approved — softened for the room, framed for the funder, focus-grouped until it agreed with everyone and meant nothing to anyone.
So we trim our own pages. We break the grid where the grid deserves it. We print the loud thing, the unflattering thing, the thing that does not photograph well and was never meant to. Permission is just taste with a budget.
We believe the work belongs to whoever risked making it — not to whoever found it acceptable. We will not retouch a difficult face into an easy one. We will not turn down the volume because the room is small.
Read us standing up. Tear out what you love. Argue with the rest. Then make something they didn't sanction.
